A Day in the Life

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.  Must be a self-starter; capable of working independently or a s art of a team.  Candidate must have the skillset and willingness to take on leadership roles while also remaining open to direction as it relates to their assigned workload. Candidate must be able to convert sometimes obscure requirements, project details and problem descriptions into working monitoring solutions.  Must be willing to work closely with customer personnel and support service providers to identify and deploy the most appropriate monitoring solution(s). Should e familiar with and have some hands-on experience with software patching, version control, testing, upgrades, debugging, and product refinement in order to deploy and maintain quality monitoring solutions.  Candidate must also be capable of and willing to prepare program-level and end-user level documentation as needed. Day Shift 9-3 in Herndon, VA. 

Time Well Spent

Working experience with Agile Development Methodology.  Working experience with enterprise monitoring.  Familiarity with Industry standards for Application and Service Monitoring.  Knowledge of Cloud monitoring and tools.  Familiarity with MID’s Platforms and Applications Management System (PAMS), the IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) 6.X suite of tools and the IBM Netcool Omnibus products.  Daily responsibilities will include the design, development and modification of complex monitoring solutions from concept to delivery.

Qualified Candidate

  • Create and modify IBM Tivoli solutions defining enterprise events and alarms
  • Participate in standard, discovery, brainstorming meetings
  • Provide night and weekend on-call pager duty
  • Help to manage ESMT incidents and service requests for development team
  • Help manage residual SRS change requests and tasks for development team
  • Perform the following for the PAMS and Tivoli Omnibus Systems (as needed)
  • system restoration
  • Account creation and administration
  • Standard monitoring services
  • Integrate Tivoli-based solutions into AEMS
  • Modify standard monitoring solutions baseline
  • Integrate custom monitoring solutions
  • Create/modify system documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Conduct system testing
  • Conduct system training
  • Build and configure new monitoring infrastructure servers
  • Help to manage and maintain EMDB’s core monitoring systems (IBM Tivoli OMNIBus and PAMS)
  • Support the integration of customer element manager systems with (PAMS/VEGAS)
  • Assist the Enterprise Systems Engineer and Architect to research and develop new monitoring solutions.  Help plan the future of monitoring for the Enterprise IT.

 

Exceptional Candidate

Candidate must have one of the following:

  • 10 Years of job related experience and a High School/GED diploma
  • 8 Years of job related experience and an Associate degree
  • 4-7 Years of job related experience and an Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 Years of job related experience and a Master’s degree
  • 2 Years of job related experience and a Doctorate
