A Day in the Life

The selected candidate will provide engineering support on a team of 20+ identifying issues and solutions for full system life cycle from concept to disposal for both hardware and software to include:  requirements elicitation, systems integration, verification and validation, testing, and perform risk analysis and supportability.

The selected candidate will work with other engineers to perform research/studies on many engineering approaches and will be able to brief the customer on them.  The selected candidate will build and execute installation plans with senior customers document new solutions for transition to O&M.

Tasking will include:

  • Perform and document functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Analyze and study complex system requirements.
  • Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
  • Work with HW/SW for upgrades and new systems.
  • Create System level documentation (e.g., Requirements documents).
  • Ensure engineering documents are compliant with industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop and continuously improve technical documentation standards.

  • 12 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma
  • 10 Years of job related experience and Associate degree
  • 8 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree
  • 6 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree
  • 4 Years of job related experience and Doctorate

Qualified Candidate

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, System Engineering or related field.
  • Must have minimum of 5 years’ experience in either IT engineering or relevant industry knowledge.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of at least three of the following infrastructure principles:
    • AWS best standards
    • High availability
    • Scalability
    • Capacity planning
    • Data backup and recovery.
  • Understand all phases of the systems development and project management life cycle.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience across the following disciplines:
    • AWS C2S
    • Operating systems - Microsoft and Linux systems
    • Networking - TCP/IP, switching and routing, VLANs, multi-tier networks
    • Application Integration - design and integration of multiple COTS products
    • Virtualization/Cloud - virtualization systems and automatic provisioning of components.
  • Experience multi-tasking and juggling competing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
