A Day in the Life

Serves as a member of team that supporting the Financial Management Directorate and FM Business Solutions Office (FMZ):

  • Assists the government with financial management operations.
  • Monitors and coordinates program resource allocations.
  • Supports Government representatives at meetings.
  • Supports the GEO-F and ORBIT systems, including future enhancements.
  • Understand the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution Cycle.
  • Develop and validate financial requirements.

Time Well Spent

Duties include:

  • Supporting program schedule development.
  • Supporting Business Case Development.
  • Developing and maintaining system documentation and training materials.
  • Developing methodologies for migrating data including validation of information migrated to a new system.
  • Participating in joint meetings related to operations and maintenance of NGA’s Core Financial Systems.
  • After operational needs for enhancements or system changes are assessed, define and develop technical requirements and specifications for development and test.
  • Integrate ITIL / ITSM to develop strategies and frameworks for NGA FM specific implementation.
  • Supporting development of IV&V testing processes to validate financial results prior to implementing system enhancements with NGA’s Core Financial Systems.
  • Coordinating and participating in system engineering and technical exchange meetings to support quick resolution of architectural, design, system interoperability and policy issues.
  • Coordinating and participating in milestone events to include requirement reviews, design reviews, and program management reviews.
  • Coordinating with security organizations facilitating security certification and accreditation documentation and activities such as security reviews and package submittals.
  • Supporting Development of reference architectures, implementation plans, CONOPs, exercise plans, data strategies, and process flows.

Qualified Candidate


  • Bachelor's Degree with significant quantitative analytic such as Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or Operations Research, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated specialized experience in system engineering, business, finance, or economics.


Exceptional Candidate


  • MS, or MBA.
  • Demonstrated specialized experience conducting analyses that involve complex technical parameter, acquisition and logistics requirements, schedule constraints, procurement and business principles and similar cost-influencing factors.
  • Demonstrated specialized experience developing life cycle cost estimates utilizing various methodologies (i.e. parametric, analogous, engineering judgment, etc.).
  • Demonstrated specialized experience in business case development.
  • Demonstrated specialized experience in schedule, cost risk and benefits analysis.
  • Demonstrated specialized experience resolving FISCAM audit Notification of Findings & Recommendations (NFR).
  • Demonstrated specialized experience with ITIL and Agile Methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current system and data architecture, and data engineering.
  • Implementation of financial systems in the federal environment from both a systems and functional perspective.
